DST Mailing Services’ Returned Mail solution delivers the facts… and a return on your investment. You’ll not only know how many pieces were undelivered, but also whose mail got returned, including account number, name and mailing address, and production details. Plus, you’ll have online reports which enable you to track returned mail volumes – and monitor if processes and strategies are working to achieve your objectives.
How it works
- The Returned Mail Processing routes undeliverable mail to a dedicated P.O. Box™ for daily pickup and overall management of the physical mail pieces.
- The automated solution captures detailed and accurate information about the mail that comes back – including account information, name and mailing address, and production details – and generates online reports. This is done by using the Intelligent Mail® barcode to uniquely identify each mail piece. This eliminates the need for additional barcoding on mail, which is often required by other service providers.
- The Address Direct component provides clean, complete, and current customer addresses, working in tandem with the USPS® Address Element Correction (AEC) and CASS™ systems to correct addresses or identify those that are uncorrectable.
- Finally, the returned mail pieces are securely shredded.
Integrated Solution Achieves Your Objectives
This solution is different because it gets to the root cause of undeliverable mail. According to a USPS®/Major Mailers Association study, about 94 percent of undeliverable mail caused by the mailer is due to incorrect, incomplete or old addresses.
Our Returned Mail processing works in concert with the Address Direct suite to resolve many of these address errors – so mail is delivered to your customers and postage costs decrease. Address Direct includes address standardization, move update, and address correction tools.
