Whenever I mention to clients that our sister division DST Worldwide Services offers global IT outsourcing services, I often get an “Oh, that’s nice” look in response.

I know the topic may seem daunting, but let’s look at a concern I often hear about managing data off-premises.

The words “global” and “IT” have implications. It’s one thing to bring IT contractors in-house, but it’s another to go off-premises, particularly offshore. As one client put it, “For privacy and regulatory reasons, we need to understand what happens to our data. And we don’t want lots of copies floating around.”

With offices in the U.S., Thailand and India, DST Worldwide Services does it all: from software design and coding to database architecture to business process redesign. And they do it 24×7. The security policies and systems in place at DST Worldwide Services facilities are based on those in use by all DST affiliates, including DST Output. Here are just a few examples specific to work for DST Output clients:

  • Maintaining one copy of all client data and code, which reside on servers in the U.S.
  • Logging on with unique RSA security IDs and accessing data over secure VPNs.
  • Physical protections such as cardkey locks, security guards and video monitoring.

Like its name suggests, DST Worldwide Services seeks out the best and brightest IT professionals across our flat world. It’s a model that enables us, and you, to remain agile and competitive.

But building trust in a worldwide services organization means balancing resource availability and security safeguards. It’s a process that takes commitment and constant attention. I know. I’ve seen firsthand how DST Output has done it. And I watch with interest as DST Worldwide Services continues to earn their clients’ trust by maintaining a secure environment.
